Customer Service Representative
This job answers all incoming calls to the main telephone line. Help patients and visitors with information or directions.

Education
Required - High School diploma or equivalent
Work Experience
Required - 1 year experience in a customer service related field required, experience working independently as well as with a team, and working effectively under stress required

Job Duties
Greets patients / family members with a smile and pleasantness.
Answers all incoming calls quickly and with a pleasant voice, always identifying self and hospital name clearly.
Directs patients and guests to appropriate area.
Reviews census to have knowledge of patient's location.
Verifies and registers vendors per policy.
Reviews all codes regularly and be ready to call codes as directed or per policy.
Pages / beeps as per policy, including but not limited to providers on call.
Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including but not limited to : respect for privacy, method of introduction to the patient, adapting explanation of services or procedures to be performed, requesting permissions and communication style.

Must be able to sit for prolonged periods of time. Must be able to travel throughout and between facilities. Normal routine involves no exposure to blood, body fluid or tissue and as part of their employment, incumbents are not called upon to perform or assist in emergency care or first aid. There is no occupational risk for exposure to communicable diseases.
