How will you make an impact in this role? This Vice President will be an integral part of the Corporate Development team, tasked with supporting American Express' growth and innovation through M&A transactions. This individual will be responsible for working in close consultation with the AXP business units and senior management to develop M&A strategy and identify possible acquisition, divestiture, and joint venture transactions. This position will report directly to the EVP, Head of Corporate Development.
Key responsibilities include working with senior management and business units to develop and prioritize strategic objectives and evaluate M&A opportunities against identified strategies. This role also involves defining inorganic areas of interest, establishing relationships with bankers, PE and VC firms, tracking developments and trends in various industries pertinent to our customers, working with deal teams to evaluate potential transactions, and preparing and communicating recommendations to senior management.
Minimum qualifications include 10 years of previous experience in investment banking, corporate development, consulting, business development, or similar roles. Exposure to FinTech, consumer services, and software is a plus. The ideal candidate must possess excellent business acumen, strong collaboration and influencing skills, and the ability to drive results. Strong analytical capability, financial and valuation skills, project and process management skills, and strong written and verbal communication skills are also required. Strong leadership and interpersonal skills are necessary, along with familiarity with PE, venture firms, and investment banks.
Salary range : $176,750.00 to $282,000.00 annually, bonus, equity (if applicable), benefits.
