Position Summary :

The Senior Case Manager serves as a liaison between the case management team and the Director of Programs. The senior case manager has the knowledge and skills to provide holistic support for families and establish high-impact mentee-mentor relationships. They lead the case management team using this expertise. The senior case manager proactively collaborates with other staff members and community partners to capitalize on meaningful opportunities for mentees and families. They are analytical in their approach, creating and adjusting systems to better serve mentees and families.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities :

Case Management Leadership (30%)

Establish and implement plans for mentee-mentor pairings across all caseloads

Provide consultation with challenging cases and ethical dilemmas

Create and monitor approved budgets for pairing and family need expenses

Develop policies and procedures that improve coordination of care

Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to expand opportunities and resources available to mentees and families

Create self care initiatives and provide consultation to staff to maintain healthy boundaries and improve sustainability of team

Facilitate trainings to staff and / or mentors related to mentee safety and wellness

Provide administrative supervision to case management team

Serve as a point of contact for mentee / family support when other case managers are out of office

Caseload Management + Family Support (30%)

Supervise a caseload of clients and volunteers to achieve mutually successful mentoring experiences.

Provide ongoing phone, email, and in-person support to mentors, mentees, and guardians to maintain open communication and strong working relationships

Maintain and document professional records of all contacts.

Monitor closely for safety, program compliance, goal achievement, and program satisfaction; problem solving with relevant parties in a timely manner

Utilize formative assessment tools to inform support for mentee-mentor pairings, intervene as needed

Coordinate support within the organization, collaborating with family, schools, and outside agencies as relevant to promote mentee wellbeing. Identify and communicate qualitative and quantitative success within the organization.

Act as an advocate for mentees and families by providing referrals, crisis intervention, and other additional resources.

Mentor-Mentee Pairing (20%) :

Communicate with mentees, mentors, and guardians during the individual pairing process as needed in sharing information around the organizational protocol, relationship building, healthy boundaries, and child development

Lead educational and recreational group activities and / or special projects for mentoring pairs based on emerging needs.

Facilitate meetings with mentees, mentors, and guardians to outline goals and expectations for individual mentee-mentor relationships

Organization-Wide Responsibilities (20%) :

Support programming, development, and organization-wide initiatives by actively engaging in the following opportunities :

Quarterly board meetings (as needed)

Fundraising and development events, grants, and initiatives

Programming events, activities, and initiatives

Staff leadership development and team building

Recruitment, selection, and onboarding (as needed)

Cross-functional special projects, see separate list of outlined case manager special projects

Perform other agency and program-related duties as needed.

Education / Experience :

MSW Degree in social work and LCSW certification required.

Experience : 5 years’ experience working with youth preferred; case management experience preferred

Experience supervising interns and other team members

Driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation

Experience working with middle school and / or high school students, incorporating cross-cultural competency to support and challenge them appropriately

Experience in the nonprofit sector is preferred

Experience working with diverse populations.

Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, Son of a Saint staff, guardians, agency representatives and various members and groups from the community

Ability to promote an inclusive, welcoming, and respectful mentoring environment that embraces diversity

Knowledge of New Orleans schools and school systems preferred

Strong written and interpersonal communication skills

Commitment to helping children achieve success in life

Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate verbally and in writing to individuals and groups

Ability to provide effective interviewing, assessment and case management skills

Ability to comply with applicable child safety requirements

Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage caseloads and effectively work with clients

Must be proficient in Google Suites and Microsoft Office : Word, Excel, & Outlook

Successfully pass a background check

Working Days / Hours :

This position’s schedule will be flexible to accommodate meeting with the boys, families, school staff, and community partners

The working days will predominantly be Monday through Friday, with occasional weekend or evening hours
