Job Description
Originate first mortgage loans, promote the Bank's and its lending services to the real estate community and help to identify and serve the community's financial needs through home loan counseling, real estate seminars and by participating in and promoting the Bank's community activities. Responsible for administering the Loan function in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Bank. Responsible for attracting and gaining new loan prospects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Serves diverse communities with a particular focus on meeting the lending and deposit needs of the Latino communities. Utilizes Spanish language skills and develops relationships with Spanish speaking clients and applicants. Participates in Spanish American community activities; develops referral network; builds relationships with centers of influence and business partners.Solicit first mortgage loans; personally interview all loan applicants; inform prospective loan clients of the Bank's underwriting guidelines and applicable government regulationsOriginate individual loans pursuant to the Bank's loan policies and proceduresRemain current with new legislation and regulations that may affect the Bank's residential lending policiesEstablish, maintain and expand a loan sourcing network for generating future businessPersonally respond to phone inquiries concerning loan products, and servicesCommunicate with attorneys, appraisers and other vendors to ensure a timely and efficient process and customer satisfactionConduct mortgage seminars and First-Time buyer workshops in Spanish and English -providing additional exposure for the BankCollaborate with management to develop and maintain strong mutually beneficial business relationshipsActively participate and provide input into overall Bank management through committee assignments and other tasksProvide training for loan personnel as directed by management to better penetrate the communityProvide management with pipeline reports and loan status information as requiredPrepare, monitor and maintain loan files for assigned borrowersActively participates in local business and community activities and maintains close contact with local builders, real estate brokers and agents, customers and prospectsPerform additional duties as requested, needed or assignedExperience and Skills
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Fluent in both English and Spanish with strong verbal and written communication skills in bothAbility to build strong relationships and alliances especially with the Spanish speaking communitySuperior customer service skills with a desire to exceed customers' expectationsThorough understanding of State, local and the Bank's community-based programs designed to increase homeownership such as... Bachelor Degree in business or finance and 3 or more years' experience in mortgage origination and secondary market underwriting guidelinesExperience originating / processing applications using ICE / Encompass POS / LOS or similar origination systemProficient in Microsoft Office suite; MS Excel, MS Word and OutlookWORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL DEMANDS
