Job description

Summer College Internship Program

The Summer College Internship Program is a 10-week, paid internship experience that provides undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to attend development workshops, network, and be part of our company. Our college interns work on meaningful projects, are mentored under their respective managers, and continue to develop throughout the entire summer. In addition, through the internship program, our interns can attend development workshops that are focused on key business concepts. Interns may work within the skills-based tracks of Business Administration, Information Technology, Actuarial, Human Resources, Analytics & Data, Communications, Finance, Marketing & Sales, Project Management, Clinical Studies, Customer Experience, Digital Operations, and other non-technical and / or technical based degree programs.

This is a paid 10-week summer internship from the first Monday in June to the second Friday in August (up to 40 hours per week). May reside in either a technical or non-technical area. Development events are provided to help with the transition from school to the corporate environment. Housing is not provided as part of our program.

Essential Accountabilities

  • Specific duties will vary with assignment; specific divisional callouts are listed below.
  • This position plays a critical role in ensuring alignment with NCQA accreditation standards across several key operational areas, including Quality Management and Improvement, Population Health Management, Network Management, Utilization Management, Credentialing and Recredentialing, and Members' Rights and Responsibilities.
  • The individual in this role is responsible for ensuring that all activities within these domains support the organization's overarching goals of enhancing care quality and improving the member experience.
  • Through systematic auditing and monitoring, the position assesses compliance with regulatory and accreditation requirements, identifies gaps, and ensures corrective actions are implemented.
  • Additionally, the role is actively involved in conducting root-cause analyses to uncover underlying issues and contributes to the development and execution of process improvement initiatives.
  • This ensures not only compliance but also continuous advancement in operational effectiveness and member satisfaction.
  • Works with a mentor and supports key strategic projects.
  • Responsible for work assignments and possible responsibilities that vary according to business need and departmental opportunities, in addition to student's qualifications.
  • Functions performed are non-technical and / or technical in nature and will cover a broad range of business-related projects.
  • Creates and delivers presentation at completion of internship.

  • Maintains high regard for member privacy in accordance with the corporate privacy policies and procedures.

  • Performs other functions as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Desired majors include : Nursing, Public Health, Healthcare Administration, Health Information Management, Health Sciences, Health Care Informatics, Communications, Social Sciences, Mathematics or similar degree program
  • Experience with Health Equity is preferred (but not required)
  • High School diploma along with proof of continuous college enrollment (enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program).
  • Must be in good academic standing.
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to communicate to technical and non-technical audiences and interface with staff at all levels of the company.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced changing environment and deliver high quality work product.
  • Ability to work well in a team establishing good working relationships with peers.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize tasks with a strong attention to detail.
  • Experience using a desktop computer in a professional environment.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive approach to work, displaying creativity and flexibility in completing assigned tasks.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement of skills and team functioning.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to work independently, as well as on intra- and inter-departmental teams where needed.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work while sitting and / or standing at a workstation viewing a computer and using a keyboard, mouse and / or phone for three (3) or more hours at a time.
  • Ability to travel across the Health Plan service region for meetings and / or trainings as needed.

    Compensation Range(s) :

    Level I - Minimum $18.00 - Maximum $20.00

    Level II - Minimum $21.00 - Maximum $23.00

    The salary range indicated in this posting represents the minimum and maximum of the salary range for this position. Actual salary will vary depending on factors including, but not limited to, budget available, prior experience, knowledge, skill and education as they relate to the position's minimum qualifications, in addition to internal equity. The posted salary range reflects just one component of our total rewards package. Other components of the total rewards package may include participation in group health and / or dental insurance, retirement plan, wellness program, paid time away from work, and paid holidays.
