Job description

Responsibilities :

  • Lead structural engineering projects from concept to completion, including full design of systems using steel, concrete, masonry, and timber.
  • Prepare and oversee calculations, models, specifications, and construction documents throughout all phases of design and construction.
  • Conduct field visits and site inspections to monitor construction progress and ensure design integrity, code compliance, and safety standards.
  • Collaborate with internal disciplines-including architectural and civil, to develop coordinated, buildable solutions.
  • Participate in business development efforts, including proposal writing, fee estimates, and client presentations.
  • Serve as the main point of contact for structural clients, cultivating long-term relationships and repeat business.
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop structural engineering staff to support firm growth and uphold design excellence.

Requirements :

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
  • 15+ years of Structural Engineering experience with a focus on building projects and proficiency in structural analysis and design software (e.g., RISA3D, RAM, SAP2000, ETABS).
  • PE Licensure in NC OR the ability to obtain via reciprocity.
  • Demonstrated experience in BIM and drafting tools such as; AutoCAD and Revit, must be able to lead and review drawing production.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes and structural systems, including design for all major load types and conditions.
  • Knowledge or exposure to close coordination with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing engineers for building systems.
  • Demonstrated experience with permitting and coordination with local jurisdictions.
