Position Summary :
The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional, comprehensive nursing care for patients in an Interventional / Procedural area. Coverage of Interventional Radiology and the Heart and Vascular Center departments will be required for this role. Accountable for the delivery of coordinated, safe, compassionate, therapeutic, evidence‐based quality care to patients and families, based on individual physical, emotional, and spiritual needs, and appropriate care strategies throughout the lifespan. Practices in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act in the state of employment, the American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, and the ANA scope and standards of practice. Essential functions and specific skills for the job are found in the unit specific onboarding checklist and in standards that are applicable to the specialty.
Education, License & Cert :
- Pass the NCLEX
- BSN is required
- Specialty Certification is preferred CCRN,CRN,RCIS,CEN, RN-BC
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
Experience :
The Registered Nurse must be a registered nurse currently licensed in the state of employment with at least one year of experience. Alternately, the Registered Nurse may have less than one year of experience if they have been transitioned to their position from the Newly Licensed Registered Nurse Residency (NLRN) Program. The Registered Nurse must meet the individual nursing unit specifications regarding educational requirements during employment. Must maintain BLS, ACLS, PALS is unit dependent. Specifications regarding educational requirements during employment are determined by the Nursing Department and Nursing Unit. This position also requires additional competencies and skills due to the requirements of needing to flex assignments between Interventional / Procedural departments.
Essential Functions
Clinical Practice & Patient Care
Performs comprehensive patient assessments, formulates nursing diagnoses, and develops individualized patient care plans.Implements and evaluates care strategies to meet patient goals and optimize outcomes across the care continuum.Monitors, documents, and communicates patient conditions accurately and timely to physicians, nurses, and other members of patient care team.Maintains current competencies relevant to the Interventional Radiology and Heart and Vascular Center departments and patient population.Administers and monitors vasoactive medications, anticoagulants, and sedation medication as directed by physician.Assists with diagnostic tests including stress echocardiograms and CT coronary angiograms.Prepares patients for interventional radiology, electrophysiology, hybrid operating room, cardiac catheterization, and structural heart treatments and surgeries.Prepares sterile trays, instruments, and maintains sterile techniques.Operates imaging equipment and assists with injection of contrast media.Evaluates heart function using electrocardiograms and telemetry monitors.Observes and monitors patients for abnormal heart rhythms and indicators of vascular complications.Identifies and responds to acute cardiac events and administers advanced cardiac life support, operates defibrillators and pacemakers.Performs other job duties as assigned to support patient care and organizational goals.Patient Advocacy
