Job Overview : A Media Blast Operator is responsible for using abrasive blasting equipment to clean, smooth, or prepare the surfaces of metal, stone, or other materials. This position requires attention to detail, a good understanding of safety protocols, and the ability to handle complex machinery.
Pay Rate $15 to $17 per hour
Monday through Friday 7am to 330pm

Key Responsibilities :
- Operate Abrasive Blasting Equipment : Use sandblasters or other abrasive blasting equipment to remove dirt, rust, coatings, and other contaminants from surfaces.
- Surface Preparation : Prepare various surfaces for painting, coating, or finishing by blasting with appropriate media to ensure proper adhesion of subsequent coatings.
- Material Selection : Select the appropriate abrasive media (sand, glass beads, steel grit, etc.) based on the job specifications and the material being treated.
- Inspect Equipment : Regularly check and maintain blasting equipment to ensure it is functioning properly and safely.
- Safety Compliance : Follow all safety protocols and wear proper PPE (personal protective equipment), including respirators, gloves, and protective clothing, to avoid exposure to harmful materials.
- Quality Control : Ensure the quality of finished surfaces meets specifications and standards by inspecting work for uniformity and smoothness.
- Maintenance : Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the blasting area. Perform basic maintenance and cleaning of equipment to ensure it runs efficiently.
Qualifications :
Experience : Previous experience in abrasive blasting or related field preferred.Technical Skills : Knowledge of media blasting equipment, surface preparation techniques, and safety procedures.Physical Stamina : Ability to lift heavy items, stand for extended periods, and work in physically demanding environments.Attention to Detail : Strong attention to detail to ensure high-quality finishes.Education : High school diploma or equivalent; some positions may require specialized training or certification.Skills and Abilities :
Ability to work with minimal supervision.Strong communication skills to interact with team members and supervisors.Good hand-eye coordination and the ability to operate complex machinery.Understanding of safety protocols and risk management in a manufacturing or construction environment.
