Special Needs Supervisor
Dave & Mary Alper JCC Miami
The Dave & Mary Alper JCC Miami is seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Needs Supervisor to join our team. This part-time role is responsible for leading our after-school special needs programs, ensuring a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment for children and staff.
Responsibilities :
- Supervise, train, and lead a team of staff working with children with special needs.
- Collaborate with educators and parents to support children’s growth and social development.
- Assist staff in managing behaviors, implementing effective strategies, and ensuring consistency.
- Develop and enhance program curriculum and activities that are inclusive and engaging.
- Communicate regularly with parents, staff, and leadership to ensure smooth program operations.
- Coordinate intake meetings with families and help determine best-fit program placements.
- Ensure compliance with licensing requirements, organizational policies, and safety procedures.
- Support inclusion in Camp, Mini Camp, and other youth programs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve parent or staff concerns in a timely, professional manner.
Required Skills & Experience :
Bachelor’s degree in Education, Special Education, or related field.ESE Teaching or RBT Certification preferred.Minimum of 3 years’ leadership experience in special needs programming.Strong organizational and communication skills, with fluency in English (Spanish a plus).Comfortable leading groups, managing staff, and working directly with children and families.Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with CampMinder and Daxko a plus.Ability to work occasional nights and weekends as needed.Physical & ADA Requirements :
Ability to bend, sit, squat, reach overhead, and walk across campus throughout the day.Ability to spend extended time outdoors in heat or rain.Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs. regularly and up to 50 lbs. occasionally.Ability to set up / take down program spaces, including moving tables, chairs, and carts.Ability to stand for more than two hours in a row and work in bent / twisted postures as needed.Must be able to respond quickly and appropriately to emergencies, including assisting participants in evacuations or other urgent situations.Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions of this role.Other Requirements :
