Summary
The City of South Euclid is an inclusive community with inviting, walkable neighborhoods and architecturally diverse housing options to fit every lifestyle and budget. It is a transit-friendly community of over 22,000 residents located minutes from University Circle, Downtown Cleveland, and the I-271 Corridor. As a first-ring suburban community located on the east side of Cleveland, housing is the city's primary industry. However, South Euclid is home to a diverse range of over 300 businesses, including educational and medical institutions, manufacturers, national retailers and restaurants, small businesses, and professional offices.
Position Responsibilities
- Obtain and review court dockets for Housing and Criminal cases. Prepare and send docket copies to prosecutors.
- Request and collect necessary police reports, videos, and other evidence for case files. Securely store or shred files as designated by the prosecutor.
- Receive, forward, and track discovery requests and related documents. Ensure all discovery materials are forwarded to the appropriate parties and properly filed.
- Assist attorneys with pretrial preparation of civil and criminal matters including the completion of discovery and dissemination of defense counsel.
- Assist with responding to questions and handle resident complaint caseload.
- Attend hearings as necessary to identify cases with victims, notify them of court dates, and coordinate with attorneys for discovery exchanges.
- Review and summarize digital / video evidence for the prosecutor before pretrial conferences.
- Respond to inquiries from victims and witnesses regarding pending prosecutions and ensure timely communication of case details.
- Ensure timely provision of discovery materials to defense attorneys and maintain accurate records in the prosecutor's file.
- Upon receipt of the case list from the judge, verify the details on the Court's website, including defendant name, court date, hearing type, and charge. Address any discrepancies by obtaining clarification from the Court.
- Retrieve or request police reports for victims.
- Generate, file, and manage subpoenas for victims. Ensure filed subpoenas are stamped and returned by the Court. Notify victims of court dates by phone or email if necessary.
- Complete and file Marsy's Compliance Forms, ensuring proper signatures and distribution of copies to relevant parties.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Position Requirements
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Legal Studies, or related field preferred.Minimum of 3 years of experience in a legal, paralegal, or administrative role, preferably in a law office or government setting.Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Proficiency in using computer systems and software for document management.Attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.Compensation
$18.00-$40.00 per hour; Exact pay rate is dependent upon qualifications and experience. Paid vacation and sick leave allocated according to the City of South Euclid's salary ordinance.
