POSITION SUMMARY / RESPONSIBILITIES
Under the direction of the Senior Executive Director of Hospital Operations, the Director of Emergency Services develops and maintains professional relationships with all Health System leadership, Health System providers, community collaborators and customers. Provides leadership and overall management of Emergency Services operations and staff. Responsible for facilitation and coordination of the Emergency Department patients in the department. Develops, conducts, and maintains Emergency Services Performance Improvement Projects and Patient Safety Programs. Performs supervisory functions over Emergency Department staff. Provides clinical and financial information and statistics as required for successful Emergency Department operations. Ensures the Emergency Department is prepared for small and large-scale disaster events. Promotes the University Health System Customer Relations policy.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing and current registration with the Board of Nurse Examiners for the State of Texas is required. Master of Science Degree in Nursing with an Administration component is preferred. Five years experience in nursing with at least two years in a supervisor or managerial position is required. Knowledge and experience with a Level I trauma center program is strongly preferred. TNCC (Trauma Nurse Core Course) certification and BLS - Basic Life Support and ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support are required.
