Maintenance Assistant

Summary : Responsible for assisting the Maintenance Director with minor repairs and preventive maintenance activities.   In addition, the Maintenance Assistant may assist with housekeeping and laundry assignments.

Duties and Responsibilities include the following.   Other duties may be assigned.

1.      Assists with the repair or replacement of defective equipment parts, using hand tools and power tools, and reassemble equipment.

2.      Assists in the routine preventive maintenance to ensure that equipment continues to run smoothly, building systems operate efficiently, or the physical condition of buildings does not deteriorate.

3.      Utilizes tools ranging from common hand and power tools, such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches, to precision measuring instruments and electrical and electronic testing devices.

4.      Assembles, installs, or repairs wiring, electrical or electronic components, pipe systems, plumbing, machinery, or equipment.

5.      Dismantles devices to access and remove defective parts, using hoists, cranes, hand tools, and power tools.

6.      Paints or repairs roofs, windows, doors, floors, woodwork, plaster, drywall, or other parts of building structures.

7.      Maintains and repairs specialized equipment and machinery found in the community as assigned.

8.      Provides grounds keeping services, such as minor landscaping tasks.

9.      Performs general cleaning of buildings or properties.

10.   Applies cleaning solvents, builds or repairs structures and / or wooden frameworks, and paints walls or other structural surfaces.

11.   Installs locks, hinges, or related finish hardware.

12.   Assists in other areas of the community as needed (i.e. driving the bus, dining).
