Job description

Nights\n\nRN ICU\nProvides direct patient care to critically ill adult patients using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice and with the policies, values, and mission of the organization.\nReports to : Director of ICU\nFLSA : Non-exempt\nEducation : Associate's Degree Nursing (ADN) : Required and validated by the presence of a current RN License; Bachelor's Degree Nursing (BSN) : Preferred\nLicense : Current Registered Nurse to practice / work in the state of NC\nCertifications : Basic Life Support (BLS) within 30 days of hire; Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year of hire; Handle with Care to be received within 30 days of orientation and kept annually.\nRequired Skills\nRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.\nEssential Functions\nPerforms plan of care intervention, including medication administration, specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical care treatment.\nDocuments patient care given.\nMonitors, records, and communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team, physician, patient, and family.\nAssists patients with performing activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.\nCollaborates as needed across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual / psychosocial support needs.\nEvaluates learning needs of patient and / or family and provides patient / family education appropriate to age, culture, condition, and circumstances.\nWorks as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.\nFloats to other departments as needed to maintain safe nurse-to-patient ratios.\nAble to manage ventilators, cpap / bipap, vapotherms.\nAble to titrate and maintain critical drips on the ICU patient, including knowledge of indications, contraindications, and side effects.\nMust pass a rhythm recognition test within 90 days of hire / transfer.\nNon-Essential Functions\n\nLifepoint Health is a leader in community-based care and driven by a mission of Making Communities Healthier.
