Basic Job Functions :

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times. The Second helper consists of, but is not limited to, assisting team with the operations and maintenance of the EAF, assisting in up-set conditions, sanding ladles, preparing and analyzing slag samples, making sure the furnace deck has needed supplies, operating an overhead crane and dropping charges, general housekeeping and a variety of other tasks related to the successful operation of the Melt Shop.

Minimum Qualifications :

• Willingness to work a flexible schedule and unscheduled overtime, rotating shifts, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
• Ability to withstand working conditions with elevated temperatures.
• Ability to lift moderate to heavy weight (50 lbs.)

Preferred Qualifications :
