Data Engineer

Overview

This position is flexible to work at any one of our administrative offices. These offices are located in Wyomissing, PA; Ithaca, NY; Batavia, NY; and Brewster, NY. Selected candidate must be able to work in the office three (3) days per week.

The Data Engineer is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of the data warehouse and analytics / reporting infrastructure to meet Tompkins Financials' decision support, business intelligence and data analytics needs. This role will define and develop logical and physical data models and create and maintain ETL routines and schedules. This role will track and report data utilization and analytic development progress and performance. In collaboration with organizational stakeholders, this role will develop and maintain a technology roadmap to support data systems architecture and enhancements.

Responsibilities

Develop and manage the design of systems to acquire, store, transform and analyze data that will produce business and technology insights, provide decision-support, and inform operational efficiency and automation initiatives.

• Build and maintain required infrastructure for optimal extraction, transformation and loading of data from various data sources
• Design table structures and ETL strategy to build data solutions that are reliable and scalable
• Prepare and perform data analysis and transformations to align data to business rules.
• Perform data validity, accuracy, and integrity tests across different components of the data architecture and infrastructure to ensure high quality data
• Design and build custom solutions to automate data retrieval processes and improve operational efficiency
• Perform SQL and ETL tuning as necessary.
• Build, maintain and enhance the analytical toolset and infrastructure
• Collaborate on development and maintenance of dashboards / reports in Tableau Server
• Assist in the development of the strategic direction of data governance, decision support, and analytics for Tompkins Financial Corporation.
• Participate in the adoption and execution of Master Data Management principles associated with centralized data sets
• Document and publish the data dictionary, associated metadata and table designs to facilitate data adoption.
