Under general supervision, the Lead Driver position is responsible for greeting all residents, team members, and visitors in a warm, confident, and knowledgeable manner. She / he is responsible for ensuring the safe travel of the residents, visitors, and team members of the community. Works as a member of the Resident Services team to deliver excellence in hospitality and customer service. She / he is responsible for assisting with carrying of packages, groceries, and luggage for transportation within the community. Transports residents in cars, trams, busses and / or vans to appointments, local shopping, and / or activities; provides assistance to the residents; and maintains and may clean the vehicle(s).

This is a FULL TIME position

  • Schedule : Monday - Friday | 8 : 00 AM - 4 : 00 PM
  • Weekends and flexible hours as needed depending on events and / or outings scheduled

Pay Range : $22.96- $32.14

Qualifications :

  • One to three years of driving experience with a clean DMV record
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required skills, knowledge and abilities.
  • Must possess or obtain a Class B license  with P Endorsement

  • Distribute and balance the workload among team members in accordance with established work flow or job specialization, assure timely accomplishment of the assigned workload, and assure that each team member has enough work to keep busy;
  • Keep in touch with the status and progress of work, and make day- to- day adjustments in accordance with established priorities, obtaining assistance from the supervisor on problems that may arise, such as backlogs which cannot be disposed of promptly;
  • and report on expected time of completion of work, and maintain records of work accomplishments and time expended and prepare production reports as requested;
  • Instruct team members in specific tasks and job techniques and make available written instructions, reference materials and supplies;
  • Give on the job training to new team members in accordance with established procedures and practices;
  • Maintain a current knowledge and answer questions of other team members on procedures, policies, directives, etc. and obtain needed information or decisions from supervisor on problems that come up;
  • Check on work in progress or spot check work not requiring review (e. g., filing or direct services) and review completed work to see that supervisor's instruction on work sequence, procedures, methods and deadlines have been met;
  • Amend or reject work not meeting established standards, refer to supervisor questions or matters not covered by standards and problems in meeting performance standards;
  • Monitor working conditions such as seating, ventilation, lighting, safety, etc.;
  • Approve absences / leaving work for emergencies;
  • Inform team members of available services and team member activities;
  • Resolve simple, informal complaints of team members and refer others to supervisor;
  • Report to supervisor on performance, progress and training needs of team members, and on behavior problems; and
  • Provide information to supervisor as requested concerning promotions, reassignment, recognition of outstanding performance, and personnel needs.
  • Work Duties

  • Operates a motor vehicle to pick up, transport and return residents to and from meals, medical appointments, and / or other activities;
  • Coordinates the pickup and delivery of Residents between various sites;
  • Schedules appointments to service a maximum number of residents;
  • Assists residents in and out of vehicles;
  • Operates wheelchair lift as needed;
  • Maintains transportation log; communicates appointment schedules to residents and other appropriate personnel;
  • Monitors and maintains vehicles in a clean and orderly condition; checks safety of car(s), busses and / or van(s); reports needed repairs to supervisor, as necessary;
  • Routinely cleans, washes and waxes vehicle;
  • Keeps vehicle fueled and performs routine maintenance;
  • Observes residents and reports concerns and changes of condition to supervisor;
  • May provide messenger service to various locations;
  • May transport residents to local grocery store on a regular schedule;
  • Responds to transportation requests from Administration.
  • Responds to Resident inquiries, requests, and complaints relating to transportation services within scope of authority and refers unresolved matters to supervisor.
  • Carries parcels from vehicle to building and sorts by Resident.
  • Performs transport and maintenance / repair duties in accordance with safety regulations and department policies and procedures.
  • Assists administrative team with administrative duties and / or tasked, as required.
  • Attends in-service training workshops and meetings as required;
  • Conducts work tasks safely and in compliance with the facility safety program;
  • Provides effective and courteous service to all residents, guests and co-workers;
  • Promotes and protects the rights of each resident;
  • Performs other related essential duties as required.
