Position Overview : JFK's Outpatient Therapists provide direct clinical care to clients managing emotional & physical challenges associated with mental illness, substance use and addiction. In an adult- outpatient, medically-assisted treatment or walk-in setting, our therapists serve the local community by :
- Providing clinical diagnostic and counseling therapy for individuals, groups & family / couples; and Drug and Alcohol assessments / intakes
- Incorporating evidence-based treatment services to prevent and reduce self-destructive behaviors (I.e.- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, DBT, motivational interviewing, etc.)
- Using a collaborative approach to treatment planning, exchanging resources & ideas to promote strength, recovery & resilience.
- Identifying social, economic, and health programs & resources appropriate to support community integration.

Desire to embrace and advance the philosophy and objectives of JFK Behavioral HealthAre motivated to construct and implement impactful therapeutic techniques.Can establish rapport and cooperative relationships with individuals possessing diminished social and emotional capacity.Understand substance use, treatment and the dynamics of co-occurring disorders.Understand the social factors which contribute to attitudes and behaviors.Are organized and can memorialize client progress, treatment plans and daily clinical documentation to satisfy regulatory requirements.Have an awareness of the laws, regulations and rules governing the provision of behavioral health services.Training & Experience :
Master's degree in social work, Psychology, Counseling or related discipline from an accredited university.At least one year of clinical experience (a two-semester internship is acceptable) working with adults performing therapy, preferably in a drug and alcohol treatment setting.
