The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) supports the health and medical needs of adults with developmental disabilities. Responsibilities include medication administration, insulin injections, wound care, health assessments, and day-to-day support. The LVN also closely monitors behavioral and medical changes to ensure safety and well-being, while advocating for each individual's goals and independence.
Key Responsibilities
Administer insulin injections and manage carbohydrate intakeAdminister medications in accordance with the five rightsAttend medical appointments and communicate updates to physiciansAssist with daily living activities (bathing, grooming, meal prep, etc.)Perform wound care, dressing changes, breathing treatmentsAudit medications each cycle for accuracy and compliancePerform g-tube feedings and colostomy careDeliver intramuscular injections and diabetic insulin injectionsEvaluate mental status and responsiveness after seizures or incidentsSupport and redirect individuals during behavioral episodesDocument daily client notes and report observations or injuriesIdentify early and late signs of infectionConduct physical assessments : vital signs, head-to-toe checksParticipate in community outings and activitiesPerform additional duties as assignedRequirements
Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) - RequiredMinimum 1 year experience supporting adults with developmental disabilitiesFirst Aid, CPR, and CPI certifications (or willingness to obtain)At least 21 years oldValid California Driver's LicenseMust pass all pre-employment screenings (background check, physical, etc.)Work Location
