Patient Service Representative I
Position is located at Northern Light Pediatric Health Center. Work type is full time with 40 hours per week, working from 9 : 00 AM to 5 : 30 PM. The Patient Service Representative I is responsible for a variety of activities related to patient in-take and care. This role is the first point of contact for patients entering the practice. Activities include greeting and checking in patients, verifying and updating insurance information, scheduling patient appointments, answering phones, updating demographic information, processing referrals, payment collection and posting, charge reconciliation, and chart preparation.
Responsibilities include communicating effectively, demonstrating courteous customer, physician / practice staff, and hospital staff communication skills, answering all calls promptly and courteously, responding to and resolving issues promptly through effective communication, and maintaining adaptability in work schedule to meet patient / departmental needs. The role also involves confirming patient identity, participating in problem solving groups, and assisting with orientating and training new and established employees.
Competencies and skills include behaving with integrity and building trust, cultivating respect, fostering accountability, and practicing compassion. Education requirement is a high school diploma or GED.
Working conditions include potential exposure to abusive and / or aggressive people, working with computers, lifting, moving, and loading 20 to 30 pounds, and prolonged periods of sitting, standing, and walking.
