The Student Organizations Coordinator in the Office of the Dean of Students plays a vital role in promoting the growth, safety, and success in promoting the prevention and risk education of student organizations at The University of Texas at Austin. This position leads the implementation of the Successful Student Organizations Program (SSOP), which supports Sorority and Fraternity Life (SFL) and general student organizations in reducing potential high-risk behaviors by fostering positive organizational culture through training, coaching, and resource development. The coordinator collaborates with students, staff, faculty, and alumni to strengthen organizational practices, manage risk, and cultivate a culture of leadership and accountability. Through strategic outreach and program coordination, the coordinator ensures student organizations are equipped with the knowledge and tools they need to thrive in a safe and responsible campus environment.

Program Coordination & Facilitation :

  • Lead the implementation of the Successful Student Organization Program (SSOP), including curriculum development, marketing, facilitation, and overall program logistics. Work closely with the Associate Director to shape and advance the vision and mission of the SSOP. Serve as Co-Chair of the SSOP committee and primary contact for participating SFL and general student organizations, faculty, and staff stakeholders. Manage SSOP facilitator recruitment, training coordination, and supervision in collaboration with a graduate assistant.

Resource and Outreach Development

  • Develop and curate resources to support best practices in the SSOP and creating healthy community, including materials related to hazing prevention, substance use safety, and other risk reduction practices with partners across campus. Coordinate marketing efforts of these resources to and for any student organization to use.
  • Support unit outreach efforts, including student organization kick off events, National Hazing Prevention Week (NHPW), and Horns Against Hazing (HAH) initiatives.
  • Training & Development :

  • Collaborate to update and maintain educational content for new member education and other SFL curated resources with a focus on leadership, health and safety, and community building.
  • Support content development and facilitation planning for SFL special programs, including Parent and Family Outreach, Risk Management Summit, and New Member Orientation.
  • Supervision & Support :

  • Recruit, train, supervise, and evaluate paraprofessional, and student staff, including direct supervision of 1 graduate assistant.
  • Committee & Campus Involvement :

  • Assist in special assignments and committees on behalf of Student Organizations with the Office of the Dean of Students, Division of Student Affairs, or other campus partners as requested. Other related functions as assigned.
  • Required Qualifications :

    Bachelor's degree and three years of experience developing, administering, facilitating and implementing programs for college students, including risk prevention topics. Membership in a nationally affiliated Greek letter organization. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, administration, and external stakeholders. Professional demeanor. Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills including presentations, written correspondence, and reports. Experience advising college student organizations. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

    Preferred Qualifications :

    Preference will be given to candidates with a graduate degree in student affairs administration, educational leadership, public health or related field. Experience advising sorority and fraternity life organizations or other high-risk student groups. Experience with risk management and safety education programming, including hazing prevention. Experience working with student groups to provide advising, program planning, interpretation of institutional policies, risk management and leadership development opportunities. Possess effective facilitation skills and experience delivering content in dynamic environments. Knowledge of student development theory and experience with student affairs assessment or program evaluation. Experience supervising professional and para-professional staff. Demonstrated, end-to-end project / program management experience. Curriculum development and implementation experience.

    Salary Range : $58,750

    Working Conditions :

  • Work in a busy, high student traffic environment with frequent interruptions.
  • Must be able to maintain punctual and regular attendance.
  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.
  • Working around and with standard office equipment.
  • The ability to flex schedule or accrue compensatory time to accommodate occasional evening or weekend work will be required.
