Job description

Program Overview

Our Environmental and Wastewater Management Training Program is designed to cultivate future leaders in environmental sustainability and wastewater management by providing hands-on experience across key areas of our operations. This structured 6-month program offers broad exposure to the different facets of environmental compliance, sustainability practices, and wastewater treatment processes, culminating in a high-impact capstone project. We offer two cohorts of trainees annually, with one class starting in January and the other in June.

Program Structure

  • First 3 Months – Rotational Experience : Trainees rotate through critical environmental and wastewater management departments to gain a comprehensive understanding of environmental practices and regulatory compliance. Departments include :

Wastewater Treatment Operations

  • Environmental Compliance and Regulation
  • Sustainability Initiatives
  • Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)
  • Research and Development for Environmental Solutions
  • Procurement and Resource Management
  • Last 3 Months – Capstone Project : Trainees focus on a specific area within environmental management or wastewater treatment and develop a capstone project addressing a key environmental challenge. Projects culminate in a presentation to senior leadership, showcasing innovative solutions for sustainability or wastewater treatment improvements.
  • Post-Program Placement

    Upon completion of the 6-month program, trainees will be placed in available positions within environmental and wastewater management. If no position is immediately available, the trainee will continue in their current capacity until a suitable role is found. Roles may include Environmental Compliance Auditor, Wastewater Treatment Operator, and similar positions within the organization.

    Key Responsibilities

  • Participate in hands-on training across various environmental and wastewater management functions
  • Engage with cross-functional teams to understand environmental workflows, regulatory requirements, and best practices
  • Collaborate with department leaders to identify and work on strategic environmental initiatives
  • Design, develop, and present a capstone project focused on improving environmental practices or wastewater management
  • Build relationships with employees across departments and contribute to the company's sustainability culture
  • Attend workshops on environmental leadership and professional development
  • Complete environmental assessments and compliance reports as required
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Qualifications

  • Recent graduate with a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Wastewater Management, Chemistry, Biology, or a related field
  • Strong interest in a career in environmental and wastewater management
  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic, environmentally-focused environment
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented setting
  • A proactive approach to work with ownership and accountability
  • Must be willing to travel to different facilities throughout the program (DE & NC)
