Program Overview
Our Environmental and Wastewater Management Training Program is designed to cultivate future leaders in environmental sustainability and wastewater management by providing hands-on experience across key areas of our operations. This structured 6-month program offers broad exposure to the different facets of environmental compliance, sustainability practices, and wastewater treatment processes, culminating in a high-impact capstone project. We offer two cohorts of trainees annually, with one class starting in January and the other in June.
Program Structure
- First 3 Months – Rotational Experience : Trainees rotate through critical environmental and wastewater management departments to gain a comprehensive understanding of environmental practices and regulatory compliance. Departments include :
Wastewater Treatment Operations
Environmental Compliance and RegulationSustainability InitiativesEnvironmental Health and Safety (EHS)Research and Development for Environmental SolutionsProcurement and Resource ManagementLast 3 Months – Capstone Project : Trainees focus on a specific area within environmental management or wastewater treatment and develop a capstone project addressing a key environmental challenge. Projects culminate in a presentation to senior leadership, showcasing innovative solutions for sustainability or wastewater treatment improvements.Post-Program Placement
Upon completion of the 6-month program, trainees will be placed in available positions within environmental and wastewater management. If no position is immediately available, the trainee will continue in their current capacity until a suitable role is found. Roles may include Environmental Compliance Auditor, Wastewater Treatment Operator, and similar positions within the organization.
Key Responsibilities
Participate in hands-on training across various environmental and wastewater management functionsEngage with cross-functional teams to understand environmental workflows, regulatory requirements, and best practicesCollaborate with department leaders to identify and work on strategic environmental initiativesDesign, develop, and present a capstone project focused on improving environmental practices or wastewater managementBuild relationships with employees across departments and contribute to the company's sustainability cultureAttend workshops on environmental leadership and professional developmentComplete environmental assessments and compliance reports as requiredOther duties as assignedQualifications
Recent graduate with a degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Wastewater Management, Chemistry, Biology, or a related fieldStrong interest in a career in environmental and wastewater managementWillingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic, environmentally-focused environmentStrong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a team-oriented settingA proactive approach to work with ownership and accountabilityMust be willing to travel to different facilities throughout the program (DE & NC)Program Benefits
