Neurotech Pharmaceuticals is an innovative biopharmaceutical company located in Cumberland, RI and Needham, MA, within the realm of Greater Boston’s vast biotechnology landscape. Since our inception more than 20 years ago, we have been developing a proprietary drug delivery platform for treatment of a variety of retinal disorders. Our drug delivery platform - Encapsulated Cell Technology (ECT) - is designed to deliver genetically modified therapeutics to slow the progression of chronic retinal diseases. Our most advanced program is delivering a neurotrophic factor to treat the orphan disease Macular Telangiectasia Type 2 (MacTel).

Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Head of Commercial Operations is responsible for developing and leading Neurotech’s commercial operations capabilities, with the ultimate focus on optimizing the execution of our field forces. Initial areas of focus will include partnering with our vendors on the implementation and roll out of key commercial infrastructure, including CRM, LMS system, and data warehouse, providing insights & analytics capabilities to the organization, and dynamic targeting / alignment of our specialty field teams. As part of this highly cross-functional role, you will be expected to partner with executive leadership and commercial leaders across functions (Marketing, Market Access, and Strategic Accounts) to ensure strategic alignment and steer the business.

This position is located in Needham, Massachusetts. This is not a remote or hybrid opportunity.

Job Requirements

  • Lead the Commercial Operations function and oversee sales operations, including commercial customer-facing force sizing, alignment, targeting, customer mapping, territory metrics, and customer analytics.
  • Manage commercial data management systems, data warehouse, field reporting, field incentive compensation, and business analytics.
  • Drive market research projects to support the brand strategy, including vendor selection and management, design, execution, and interpretation of market research studies.
  • Partner with Commercial stakeholders to drive strategic decision-making based on insights.
  • Design, build and operate CRM and master data warehouse to support all commercial and launch business processes.
  • Drive field team effectiveness through territory planning, performance tracking, development and delivery of customer engagement, and sales enablement tools.
  • Oversee field team needs assessment and training in collaboration with the business owners.
  • Manage marketing operations to ensure timely review of promotional materials and congress and conference organization, amongst other workstreams.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree required , MBA preferred .
  • Minimum 10 years of experience within biotech / pharmaceuticals (retina / ophthalmology preferred), with recent focus in commercial operations leadership.
  • 5+ years leadership in commercial operations with previous direct experience in relevant functions (e.g., incentive compensation, sales operations, market insights, and analytics) as well as systems oversight.
  • Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Proven expert in commercial operation functions.
  • Launch experience for rare indications and retina / ophthalmology experience preferred.
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability building high-performing teams.
  • Ability to generate, quantify and analyze data in creating appropriate solutions for field teams and marketing optimization.
  • Experience selecting and overseeing external vendors and outsourced partnerships.
  • Strong ability to engage and motivate people and have the managerial courage to make and stand by difficult decisions.
