DESCRIPTION
Wastewater Treatment Plant Superintendent is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant to ensure it's in compliance with the regulatory procedures and reporting practices. The job involves planning, organizing, and directing programs and activities for the efficient operation of the wastewater treatment system. The superintendent is responsible for overseeing the supervisory, administrative, and technical operations of the wastewater treatment facility, lift stations, and collection system.
QUALIFICATIONS
Grade "A" Wastewater Certification issued by Texas Commission of Environmental Quality (TCEQ) required.10 years of experience working in a wastewater treatment plant or related industry is required with increasing levels of responsibility.In-depth knowledge of activated sludge process, wastewater treatment processes, and regulations related to wastewater treatment required.Experience in leadership or management role is also preferred.A bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering or a related field is preferred; educational requirement can be adjusted based on field experience.Valid Texas Driver License Class "B" CDL preferred but not requiredKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of plant equipment, instrumentation, and computer systemsKnowledge of SCADA systems, PLCs, and other automated systemsKnowledge of safety regulations and protocols, and experience implementing safety programsAbility to troubleshoot and identify the root cause of problems, and to develop and implement solutionsAbility to read and understand written guidelines from manuals, blueprints and regulationsAbility to establish and maintain effective communication and working relationships with city employees and the publicMAJOR DUTIES
Oversee the day-to-day operations of activated sludge treatment facility with a permitted average flow of 11.3 MGDManage a team of 18 employees including operators, technicians, and administrative staffDevelop and implement operational and maintenance process control strategies to optimize plant performance and reduce costManage plant's budget, ensuring that all expenditures are within budget and that resources are used efficiently and for operational use onlyIdentify long-term plant goals and objectives and develop strategies to achieve themEnsure compliance with all environmental regulations and permit requirementsCollaborate with other departments, internal and external agencies and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and coordinationPrepare and present reports to senior management and regulatory agencies as requiredVarious other duties as assignedPHONE
