Engineering Inspector WW

JOB SUMMARY :

Performs engineering, drafting, mapping and records, or land surveying work.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS :

• Provides technical support with the research, preparation, and layout of construction drawings, as-builts, mapping, charts and graphs.
• Checks work of operators and vendors for accuracy and conformance to engineering practices.
• Prepares cost estimates and quantity take-offs for engineering projects.
• Performs inspection of sewer main construction.
• Determines availability from maps, records and / or field inspection.
• Develops and maintains a variety of basic GIS applications, spatial data layers and databases.
• Provide maps and other information for city personnel, contractors, realtors, and developers.
• Performs grade shots for crews to determine fall or elevation issues, or other related surveying.
• Research easements, property owners and subdivision plats.
• Mark sewer taps for property owners for connection.
• Mark sewer mains and easements based on building permit information.
• Answers inquiries regarding utility locations, as-built drawings, flood zones, aerial photos, right of way and property lines, legal descriptions, quarter section maps, benchmarks, tax id numbers, parcel numbers and general City map information.
• Provides technical and general engineering information to utility agencies and the public.
• Maintain files of construction plans and as-built drawings.

REQUIRED EDUCATION / OR EXPERIENCE :

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two year-college or technical school; or one year to two years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

PREFERRED EDUCATION / OR EXPERIENCE :

Associate's degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two year-college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and / or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Salary Description

$26.56 per hour minimum starting rate.
