UPMC is hiring a Full-Time, Medical Assistant, various levels to support the office in Mechanicsburg. This is a very friendly and well-established practice that tends to be very busy!

Preference will be given to individuals that have completed Medical Assistant training or have previous Medical Assistant experience. 25% of travel is required to assist at other office. Manager will discuss further during interview.

Hours for this position are Monday-Friday 8 : 30am-5 : 00pm. No holidays or weekends!

The salary for this position is between $18.12-$27.76 / hour. Job title and salary will be based on qualifications and career ladder requirements.

Responsibilities :

• Guides workflow and / or assigns tasks to other clinical staff.
• Mentors, orients and provides ongoing training to current and new staff members.
• Must be responsible and demonstrate proficiency in all practice category specific tasks.
• Send / receive patient medical records in accordance with Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) and other state and federal regulations.
• Obtain lab / x-ray reports, hospital notes, referral information, etc.
• Verify insurance coverage and patient demographics.
• Prepare and managing charts to ensure information completed and filed appropriately.
• Other front office responsibilities, as required.
• Clean and prepare exam / procedure rooms, instruments and equipment between patient visits to maintain infection control.
• Assist patients as needed with walking, transfers, dressing, collecting specimens, preparing for exam, etc.
• Collect patient information / history; taking vitals, performing screenings per provider guidelines.
• Answering calls and providing pertinent information including patient education as directed.
• Under the direction and supervision of a physician, administer injectable medication and vaccines when appropriate.
• Perform phlebotomy, EKG's, and level one labs.
• Perform clinic procedures according to policy and procedure.
• Comply with requirements of appropriate regulatory agencies (i.e., OSHA, CLIA, PA Department of Health).
• Maintain strict confidentiality related to medical records and other data.
• Comply with all UPMC Health System policies and procedures.

Medical Assistant :

Preference : completion of Medical Assistant training or previous Medical Assistant experience

Medical Assistant, Senior :

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances :

CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
