Description :

This position involves providing nursing care in a medical-surgical unit.

The unit has 33 rooms with a capacity of up to 49 patients, some of which are semi-private.

There are a total of 62 staff members on the unit.

The day shift consists of 2 charge nurses, 2 techs, and 6-7 RNs.

The night shift has 1 charge nurse, 1.5 techs, and 5-6 RNs.

Patient ratios are 4 : 1 during the day and 5 : 1 at night.

Telemetry monitoring equipment is utilized.

The electronic medical record system in use is Meditech.

Candidates should have a background in Med / Surg nursing.

Those with experience in spinal cord injury care will be prioritized.

Typical procedures on the unit include wound care, occasional bowel programs, and light burn care.

Ideal candidates are RNs who thrive in a busy environment.

The unit specializes in caring for surgical flap patients and spinal cord injury patients with complex wounds.

Collaboration with a burn unit is common for managing low-acuity burn patients.

There may be a need for semi-private rooms depending on hospital census.
