BA Global Talent is seeking an on-site   Technical Writer / Web Developer  in Maryland  to join the Department of Navy (DON) SAP IT program . This role combines technical communication and web development skills to support the documentation and accessibility of enterprise-level IT systems. You will establish documentation standards, ensure content quality, and build user-friendly web-based tools and interfaces to enhance information sharing across the program.

This role is well-suited for professionals who can bridge technical details with clear, user-friendly communication while also developing web solutions that integrate seamlessly into complex environments.

The Department of Navy (DON) SAP IT program  protects highly sensitive national security information. These programs utilize rigorous security measures and need-to-know access to safeguard vital technological breakthroughs, intelligence on U.S. capabilities, and operational plans.

Responsibilities :

Technical Writing & Documentation

  • Develop, edit, and maintain technical documents, manuals, and process guides.

Translate complex IT system specifications and technical details into clear, concise, and user-friendly language.

  • Ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with established documentation standards.
  • Lead process documentation efforts and evaluate existing publications for quality and relevancy.
  • Serve as the final authority for documentation editing and formatting.
  • Web Development

  • Design and implement web applications and components from requirements through deployment.
  • Create and maintain custom web programs and intranet portals that enhance user accessibility.
  • Develop user interfaces to databases and business applications using HTML, SQL, C, VB, or similar languages.
  • Design templates, databases, and front-end interfaces to improve ease of use.
  • Build and maintain database-driven web interfaces for real-time information sharing.
  • Ensure compatibility and seamless integration with technologies such as Java, ColdFusion, and other enterprise systems.
  • Requirements :

  • Must have an active TS / SCI (Top-Secret SCI Clearance).
  • Must have a BS / BA (a MS / MA or PhD is a plus).
  • Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in technical writing and / or web development.
  • Experience creating, editing, and managing technical documentation for complex IT systems.
  • Ability to understand and document functional and technical specifications.
  • Strong foundation in technical terminology and IT concepts.
  • Hands-on experience in web development, including HTML, SQL, and scripting / programming languages.
  • Knowledge of server software operations and database-driven applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple deliverables.
  • Nice to have :

  • Familiarity with enterprise-level IT environments and security-focused documentation.
  • Experience with graphics, layout, and user interface design for web applications.
  • Prior experience developing intranet or enterprise web portals.
