Position Summary

The North Little Rock School District (NLRSD) is seeking exceptional applications for eight newly reorganized positions of Network Wraparound Services Specialists. Each Network Wraparound Services Specialist will directly work in and support schools in either School Network (A) or (B). Wraparound services are those non-academic supports that address critical issues such as mental health and physical health needs, food insecurity, lack of stable housing, violence, incarceration of a parent, and many other challenges that can have adverse effects on a student's readiness and ability to learn. As such, the aim of this position is to ensure that children, families, and caregivers within each assigned school, receive the support services and assistance they need within 24 hours. The work of the specialist will include connecting schools to non-academic supports needed to improve the overall child well-being and academic achievement of all students. These positions will include planning, implementing, and monitoring parent involvement activities, assisting with coordinating volunteer programs and working with various smaller community networks across the city to identify, align, and connect resources and support as directed by their supervisor. This is a network-based / school-based position devoted to connecting network schools to wraparound services and maintaining smaller community connections.

The Wraparound Services Specialist duties will include but are not limited to :

  • Works with the Coordinator of Network Wraparound services to implement a new vision for the School Network Wraparound Services Model that illustrates the foundation for a school network support model which is grounded in the interconnectivity between a school, a child, their family, and the community they live in while grounded in a research-based framework like Bright Futures.
  • Works with the Coordinator, Network Wraparound Services to perform school and community needs assessment, find service providers, and troubleshoot challenges.
  • Works directly with assigned network principals to develop personalized Family Network Support Service Plans with monthly check-ins with families on progress.
  • Works with families to implement assigned Read at Home Plans under the LEARNS Act to support families and students with literacy initiatives.
  • Engages families and school staff to understand student needs better, develops and manages partnerships with local service providers, and participates in and learning from resource specialist communities.
  • Coordinates services at each assigned network school to ensure homeless students are identified, enrolled, and receive necessary services to succeed academically, acting as a bridge between schools, families, and community resources.
  • Serves as the district representative of School Health to improve the school nutrition environment, promote student health, and reduce child obesity.
  • May serve as a member of the School Nutrition and Physical Activity Advisory Committee (SNPAAC) and contribute to recommendations for improvement.
  • Works with the district, city, school, and community to facilitate empowering events.
  • Monitors and analyses quantitative and qualitative data points related to all wraparound services provided to the assigned schools within the network. Makes recommendations to school leadership teams to ensure all students and their families get the support they need within 24 hours.
  • Coordinates student needs assessment and serves alongside the school principal as a member of a School Support Team (SST) to identify, address, coordinate, align, and provide full wrap-around services to the child and their family.
  • Gather input from community leaders during the decision-making process. Collect and use needs and service provider data throughout the wraparound program and share with district leaders.
  • Supports the Coordinator of Network Wraparound Services with implementing a virtual School Network wraparound service provider database encompassing smaller network community resources across the city of North Little Rock to access both School Network (A) and (B).
  • Determines major needs of the assigned network schools and shares with other specialists themes and needs across the entire network to target resource allocation and need.
  • Identifies gaps in the wrap-around service provider database.
  • Works directly with individual students in need and connects them with service providers.
  • Follow up with students and families on an ongoing basis for feedback on services provided and the level of care.
  • Build positive relationships and trust with principals, teaching staff, students, service providers, community leaders, and other resource coordinators.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

  • Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree Required.
  • Licensed Social Work or related degree and / or experience preferred.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience in a similar position.
  • Experience working in a highly collaborative environment where teamwork, creative problem-solving, and self-motivation are necessary for success.
  • Experience in an urban school district is preferred.
  • Experience as a language interpreter is preferred.

  • Ability to work flexible hours including some nights and weekends
  • Wraparound Services Knowledge and Expertise :

  • Knowledge of state law and district administrative policies and procedures related to job roles and responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of procedures, practices, and methods in planning, evaluating, and designing educational programs and services.
  • Fundamentals of public relations theories and techniques in promoting, advertising, and / or informing the public of programs, events, and activities related to roles and responsibilities.
  • Work Environment :

  • Work is primarily conducted in a school setting. This position is cognitively demanding and requires exceptionally well-developed professional social and communication skills. Movement in and about schools and office buildings / grounds is a frequent requirement, as well as the ability to carry or lift items 75 lbs. or less.
