JOB SUMMARY

Assemble custom products to meet customer specifications. This includes hydraulic and pneumatic valve manifold packages, small hydraulic power units, hydraulic hose production as well as other product modifications as requested. Diagnose and repair products to meet factory specifications.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Extensive use of hand tools (wrenches, ratchets, sockets, torque wrenches etc.)

Assemble units and components, and / or convert as well as repair material to meet factory specifications, customer requirements, bill of materials, drawings, assembly instructions and departmental goals for accuracy and timeliness.

Immediately report discrepancies to the bill of material, questionable product quality, and / or potential problems with the order entry to the Production Manager as well as to the inventory planner responsible for the product line or associate who entered the order.

Exhibit teamwork in dealings with the engineering group, shop, warehouse, and department associates to meet goals of the division.

Communicate fully to keep all appropriate people informed of important issues.

Maintain a clean and safe work area, and follow all OSHA requirements to protect yourself and others.

Utilize warehouse management software to execute pulling and processing job material on work orders and conversion orders.

Always work toward the attainment of the department and division goals of quality and timely delivery.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Maintain logs and records to support department documentation & statistics

Assist sales associates with requests for technical information and resources.

Interact with our sales team or vendors to gain or give information.

Ability to operate a forklift

Follow Cross Company policies for safe operation of all machinery and equipment.

Follow “best practices” and training to avoid lifting, repetitive motion, or other job-related injuries.

Report all unsafe practices or conditions to your supervisor immediately.

Complete special projects assigned by your supervisor thoroughly and on time.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

High School / GED required and 2-3 years hydraulic industry-related experience or 3-5 years experience in a mechanical environment in areas related to assembly and testing.

MENTAL AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to stand at a workbench, lathe, grinder, or test equipment for unspecified time (often)

Ability to walk over an extended distance carrying material or equipment (often).

Ability to move / slide and / or lift material up to a weight of 30 pounds (often).

Ability to sit at a table executing assembly or computer work for unspecified time (often).

Ability to bend down for low-to-ground assembly work (occasionally).

Ability to crawl for low-to-ground assembly work (occasionally).

General flexibility for a variety of different assembly work within a manufacturing environment, including operating different machinery, power tools and hand tools.
