Production Equipment Reliability Technician

Imagine a packaging line pauses—an unusual rattle, a tripped sensor, a VFD alarm. You trace the sound, review the schematic, and bring the line back with a targeted fix. If this sounds like your kind of challenge, you’ll thrive here. This mid-level role sits between Jr. Mechanic and Electro-Mechanic, blending mechanical mastery with practical electrical know-how to keep food production running at its best.

Your Mission

  • Drive reliability through preventive and corrective maintenance of motors, conveyors, pumps, pneumatics, and related machinery.
  • Contribute on electrical tasks : replace switches and sensors; install and troubleshoot VFDs.
  • Use observation, sound, and basic diagnostic tools to pinpoint mechanical issues.
  • Disassemble, repair, and reassemble equipment with hand and power tools; assist with setups, changeovers, and light fabrication.
  • Support facilities : basic plumbing and carpentry, HVAC filter changes, and general building care.
  • Assist during inclement weather (snow removal, salting, roof checks) and help with grounds maintenance.
  • Keep tools organized, return equipment to proper locations, and maintain a clean, safe workspace.
  • Manage parts and supplies inventory; escalate shortages and reorder needs.
  • Record work accurately in CMMS / work orders; propose improvements to enhance uptime and safety.

Safety, Food Safety & Quality Focus

  • Strictly follow LOTO and all company safety procedures.
  • Support GMPs, SSOPs, HACCP, and CCP monitoring.
  • Ensure equipment performance aligns with food safety and quality requirements; report and correct risks promptly.
  • Core Competencies

  • Mechanical troubleshooting strength and a hands-on mindset.
  • Fundamental electrical knowledge (low voltage, sensors, relays, VFDs).
  • Ability to read manuals, schematics, and basic blueprints.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and measuring instruments.
  • Detail orientation, problem-solving, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.
  • Experience & Education

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2–4 years of maintenance experience in manufacturing or similar settings.
  • Familiarity with packaging equipment or food processing equipment preferred.
  • CMMS experience a plus.
  • Physical Requirements & Conditions

  • Ability to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat for inspections and repairs.
  • Comfort working on ladders and elevated platforms.
  • Lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Operate in noisy, cold, hot, and wet environments.
