Position Summary
The Spirometry Technician is responsible for performing high-quality spirometry testing in accordance
with clinical protocols and regulatory guidelines. The technician will assist with patient screening,
documentation, and collaboration with medical and nursing staff to ensure accurate and timely
respiratory evaluations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform spirometry tests following ATS / ERS standards
- Ensure proper calibration and maintenance of testing equipment
- Provide spirometry testing to the geriatric population
- Interpret test results including FVC, FEV1, FEV1 / FVC, FEF, PEF
- Educate and guide patients through the spirometry process
- Accurately document and input results into electronic medical records
- Communicate test findings to the respiratory therapist or physician
- Maintain infection control protocols and ensure patient safety
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to support ongoing respiratory care initiative
- Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (required)
- Certification in spirometry or pulmonary function testing
- If there is no certification, we will send the course to certification for NIOSHA spirometry
technician
Prior experience in healthcare or respiratory setting, COTA, PTA, CRT, LPN (preferred)Basic understanding of respiratory anatomy and physiology Strong communication and interpersonal skillsDetail-oriented and able to follow clinical procedures accuratelyProficiency with EMR systems is a plus
Work Schedule
Monday – FridayOccasional weekends or on-call hours may be required based on facility needsWilling and able to travel to multiple locations within the New York area as scheduled
