Job Title : Registered Nurse Profession : RN Specialty : Med Surg Duration : 13 Weeks Shift : 07 : 00-19 : 00 Hours per Shift : 12 Experience : Minimum 2 years License : Active RN License Certifications : BLS, NIHSS Must-Have : Able to perform basic patient assessments. General care and maintenance of wounds, tracheostomy, ostomy, drains, and chest tubes. Experience with stroke and seizure management. Patient population may require dialysis or PCA pumps. Knowledge of heparin drip administration. Experience with post-operative procedures, including amputations, ostomy care, drainage management, chest tubes, oral surgeries, and wound vacs. Description : The unit consists of 36 beds with patient ratios of 1 : 4 to 1 : 5. A secretary is available every day along with PRN techs. The unit is equipped with PD cyclers, Welch Allyn VS carts, Hoyer lifts, Broda chairs, and Alaris IV pumps. The documentation system used is Meditech. Staffing requires 4 weekend shifts in a 4-week block. There is a floating policy in place. Patient experience includes bedside shift report and safety checks every 1-2 hours focusing on communication and responsiveness. Candidates should adhere to HAI prevention, CVC and Foley monitoring with standard precautions, and fall prevention protocols. Medication scanning, including controlled substances, is mandatory. Teamwork is emphasized, with a youthful group eager to enhance patient outcomes. Leadership is supportive and experienced to facilitate a smooth transition to the unit.
