JOB SUMMARY

The ER Paramedic / EMT, under the supervision of the Nurse Manager and the nursing supervisor, is responsible for the nursing care of the patients in the emergency department and is responsible for the direction of patient care. The Paramedic delivers care based on patient needs appropriate for the infant, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. He / she demonstrates an interest in patient patient-centered approach to total nursing care and demonstrates cooperation, flexibility, and resourcefulness when dealing with patients, visitors, physicians, and hospital personnel. The Paramedic shall be responsible for assisting with planning, supervising, and evaluating the nursing care of patients and for correlating the nursing process, the medical plan of care, and policies.

General Responsibilities :

Observe professional ethics in maintaining confidential information acquired concerning the personal, financial, medical, or employment status or patients of Tennova Healthcare and their families.

Must follow and enforce accepted safety practices for patients and the hospital.

Participate in Performance improvement activities.

Utilize the nursing process to oversee and provide age-specific patient care.

Maintain the development, implementation, and revision of individual performance plans.

Facilitate open channels of communication with managers, peers, staff, and physicians.

Counsel, coach, discipline, and evaluate nurses and staff.

Educates and adheres to patient bill of rights.

Qualifications

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

Education : Must be a graduate of an approved paramedic school as evidenced by verification of TN EMT-P licensure.

Experience : Desirable characteristics include at least two years of experience in a hospital or medically related environment

Licenses / Certificates : License to practice as an EMT-P in the State of Tennessee,BLS CPR required. ACLS and PALS within one year of assignment to the Emergency Department.
