The salary range above represents this position's earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $80,070 - $118,679, based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
BHCS is currently recruiting a team-oriented professional who is eager to serve the citizens of Takoma Park. You will be paired with another clinician to assist the Takoma Park Police Department in assessing the mental health needs of citizens in crisis as well as providing proactive follow up.
What You'll Be Doing
The primary purpose of the Takoma Park Police Department (TPPD) Term Therapist II is to assist the TPPD sworn officers and professional staff with their calls for service with individuals experiencing behavioral health concerns. This will include, but is not limited to : co-responding with TPPD officers on calls in the community or assisting with walk ins at the City station, conducting mental health evaluations and diagnostic assessments as needed for individuals in distress, writing emergency evaluation petitions as indicated by the severity and acuity of the circumstances, determining eligibility for DHHS programmatic resources, providing information and psychoeducation to individuals and their support system on available services and processes, initiating follow up contact with individuals who have encountered TPPD and providing crisis-oriented therapeutic case management services, maintaining appropriate case documentation within DHHS / Crisis Center's Electronic Health Record system.
Experience working in law enforcement, correctional, or other public safety setting
Experience and proficiency as an instructor on behavioral health topics, preference given to those with training in a public safety environment and familiarity with Crisis Intervention Team training curriculum
Experience and fluency in writing emergency evaluation petitions, responding to high acuity crisis evaluations in community settings, and working with hospitals and community behavioral health providers in advocating for the most appropriate level of care for individuals in crisis
A Maryland Driver's License is needed for this role since you will be working off site, as needed. This role also requires fingerprints, a physical exam and drug screen as well as the completion of the Takoma Park Police Department background check.
Minimum Qualifications
Therapist II Level :
Education : Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in clinical or counseling psychology, social work, marriage and family therapy, nursing, or a related behavioral science field.
Experience : Two (2) years of professional experience rendering therapeutic counseling, social work, nursing or psychology services, as pertinent to one's professional licensing.
Equivalency : None.
LICENSE REQUIREMENT :
One of the following licenses, issued by the State of Maryland, must be held prior to appointment of, and maintained by, the employee :
Licensed Registered Nurse in the United States, certified as Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner or Family Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner in the State of Maryland; or
Licensed Psychologist
