THIS IS A HYBRID ROLE, REQUIRING 3 DAYS A WEEK AT THE CLIENT SITE IN EITHER SYRACUSE OR ALBANY NY. THUS, ANY CANDIDATES MUST BE LOCAL TO EITHER LOCATION AT THE TIME OF APPLICATION. CANDIDATES OUTSIDE OF THIS RADIUS WILL NOT BE CONSIDERED

SOFT's client, located in Syracuse and Albany, NY (hybrid) is looking for a Mechanical Engineer for each location for a long term contract assignment. 5 - 10 years experience in drafting design are required for this assignment. Engineering degree required.

  • Provides engineering design and analysis for all types of gas distribution engineering projects.
  • Prepares general layout and final construction drawings for projects of all types.
  • Role requires collaboration and interpersonal skills necessary to work with operations, project sponsors, and union design / drafting staff.
  • Coordination and technical communication with various permitting municipalities and engineering support service providers (Geotech investigation firms, internal survey group, ect.).
  • Key job responsibilities include prepare assembly and detail designs of mechanical and structural projects, designing dimensional details to avoid interference with equipment and structural members, and prepare bill of materials for major and minor parts of construction projects.
  • Experience with AutoCad, MicroStation, ArcGIS, BlueBeam and / or other typical industry design software is required.
  • Experience with STORMS / Maximo, or other work management software is preferred. Previous gas utility engineering experience is preferred. Must have BS engineering degree from an accredited institution and a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
