American Traveler is seeking an experienced ICU RN for night shifts in an acute care setting, requiring a WV or compact license and prior travel experience.
\n \n Responsibilities\n
Position is in the ICU of an acute care hospitalPatient population includes critically ill adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients with complex, life-threatening conditionsUnit has 18 beds with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1 : 2, occasional 1 : 3 with overflow or stepdown casesCommon cases involve sepsis, acute MI, renal, post-vascular, stroke, TIA, seizures, ARDS, lumbar drains, and ventilator managementRNs are responsible for titrating critical drips including vasopressors and sedation; common drips include Levophed, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Heparin, and InsulinUnit uses Epic EMRNight shift, three 12-hour shifts per week, every other weekend, and rotational major holidaysFloating required to Stepdown, Med-Surg / Telemetry, or the ED if neededBlock scheduling permitted for night shiftsNo call or standby requirementRNs provide care for a wide range of critical diagnoses and perform invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic monitoringDrip titration is required, with autonomy in monitoring and responseCharge nurse is present and does not carry patients; 24 / 7 house supervisor availableNo nurse aides on unit; RN responsible for complete patient careRespiratory therapy team is available as needed and provides support for ventilated and complex respiratory casesRNs must comply with the navy scrub dress code with solid colors and closed-toe shoesOrientation includes hospital, nursing, and computer training, plus two 12-hour precepted shiftsTravelers float in rotation with permanent staff and are not the first to floatPass / fail EKG testing may be required as part of onboarding at some facilities\n \n Requirements\n
Current WV or compact RN license is requiredMinimum of 2 years recent ICU experience and previous travel experience requiredCurrent BLS and ACLS certifications from AHA are mandatoryExperience with CRRT, IABP, and Impella preferredAbility to read telemetry strips requiredMust be able to work every other weekend and rotate holidaysNo travel duos acceptedNo local travelers; candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radiusReturning travelers must have a 2-year separation from previous WVU Medicine employment and may not work within the system for more than one year cumulatively\n Benefits\n
