Library Assistant Part Time - Teen and STEAM role at Union County, NC. This is a part-time position; approximately 20 hours per week with mornings, evenings and Saturday hours on a rotation. The role involves working in the teen department and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Math) Lab of Southwest Regional Library in Waxhaw, providing basic paraprofessional library services and engaging with teen patrons.

Responsibilities

• Meet the needs of each patron by promptly and efficiently using the library''s resources.
• Respond to the needs of coworkers in the work unit.
• Help maintain the collection and answer telephone queries, referring callers to the appropriate library department.
• Maintain knowledge of library policy and procedure.
• Report any unsafe or threatening conditions to library security, administration, or proper authorities.
• Attend staff development programs.
• Possess basic knowledge of the library''s electronic and physical resources.
• Help advocate for the library and its services in internal and external settings.
• Accept changes in hours or assigned tasks as needed to provide excellent public service; adhere to the assigned schedule with regular and dependable attendance.
• Teen and Technology Services : provide basic reader''s advisory assistance to teen and adult patrons, assist with age-appropriate programs for ages 12-18, maintain an inviting and inclusive teen space, assist with the STEAM Lab and provide programming and activities, conduct impromptu library orientation and tours.
