The Respite Care Worker will provide one or more of the following primary activities : feeding, personal care needs, companionship, support or general supervision.
The respite worker should :
have past experience in caring for persons living with ADRD;have the ability to communicate with the caregiver / care recipient with speech / hearing or visual impairmentsbe able to maintain confidentiality;have reliable transportation.Responsibilities
Personal care needsMouth and denture careShavingFinger and toe nail care (no cutting)Grooming hair- shampooing, combing, oilingBathing or bed bath-shower or tub (partial or complete)Helps with dressingHelps with toileting-bed pan, commode / chair, or urinal (emptying and cleaning)Reminds waiver participant to take medicationHelps with eating and feeding if neededTransferring or changing the waiver participant's body positionHelps in ambulationProvide companionshipAssures that rooms are clean and in orderPrepares shopping listsPurchases and stores groceriesPrepares and serves mealsLaundering, ironing, sweeping, mopping, and dustingRun errandsProviding assistance / supervision during community outingsCleans and operates equipment in the home such as the vacuum cleaner, stove, refrigerator, washer, dryer, and small appliancesChanges linen and makes the bedCleans the kitchen, including washing dishes, pots, and pansProvide compassionate companionship to patients

Qualifications
Must be 18 years of age or older.Must be a high school graduate, have a GED, or demonstrate the ability to read the written personal care services assignment and write adequately to complete required forms and reports of visits.Must demonstrate the ability to work well with aged and disabled individuals who have limited functioning capacity;Ability to communicate both verbal and written.Capable of working responsibly with confidential information.Must be able to work independently.Must maintain current and active first aid and CPR certification;Be physically able to perform the job tasks required and assurance that communicable diseases of major public health concern are not present, as verified by a physician;Have interest in and empathy for, people who are ill, elderly, or disabled;Be emotionally mature and able to respond to participants and situations in a responsible manner;Have good communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to deal effectively, assertively, and cooperatively with a variety of people;Must not have been convicted of a crime substantially related to the dependent population or any violent crime;Must be able to recognize the signs of abuse, neglect and / or exploitation and the procedures to follow as required in the Vulnerable Adult Act; andMust have knowledge of how to prevent burns, falls, fires; and emergency numbers to contact emergency personnel if required.Salary Range
USD $11.00 - $12.00 / Hour
