Manager Transmission Planning
This role is crucial for ETI to meet growing customer needs and will shape ETI's strategies accordingly. The position will lead the development of ETI's transmission plans and congestion management strategy as a part of ETI's integrated planning function and MISO's planning processes. Responsibilities include collaborating with various business units, developing resource planning strategies, creating plans and business cases for customer solutions, and tracking project execution. Knowledge of distribution or generation planning is beneficial.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
- Responsible for ETI's transmission planning activities, including participation in the MTEP planning processes for long-term reliability and economic planning in MISO. This includes overseeing the development and recommendation of optimized transmission project strategies that will be presented to both internal and external stakeholders to ensure robust projects are constructed for ETI's geographically large and significant transmission grid.
- Oversee the development and implementation of project business cases and execution strategies that optimize various business and customer needs through both internal and regulatory processes.
- Support and / or testify in regulatory proceedings, such as CCNs, rulemakings, and recovery proceedings, on matters related to transmission planning and congestion management activities.
- Leading strategic evaluations with cross-functional teams and translating plans into operational initiatives.
- Participate in MISO committees and meetings related to transmission planning and congestion management and to coordinate internally to ensure quality feedback is submitted on behalf of ETI.
- Responsible for the development and implementation of ETI's ARR / FTR strategy for managing congestion.
- Interact and coordinate with regulators on Organization of MISO States (OMS) support, Order 1000 issues including seams issues with neighboring utilities, regional transmission expansion planning, implementation of new NERC planning standards, and MISO policies for regional transmission cost allocation.
- Lead various other initiatives for ETI as needed, as well as train and oversee the activities of the department analysts.
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, mathematics, business, or equivalent and minimum of 7 years experience required OR in lieu of degree 8 years of experience required. Masters or MBA desired.
Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required of the position None; Resource planning and MISO and / or other RTO experience is desired.
