Heavy Equipment Operator
We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Heavy Equipment Operator to join our Stormwater System Maintenance team. In this role, you'll operate a variety of heavy equipment to maintain, repair, and improve stormwater infrastructure including catch basins and storm drains, assist with pipe repair and maintenance, operate dump trucks with snow removal equipment during inclement weather, and perform general street maintenance activities. This position may involve working in confined spaces, including underground drainage structures. As you learn and develop in this role, you will be responsible for operating a range of haul vehicles, including flat bed and dump trucks, hydraulic cranes, as well as a wide variety of construction equipment. Additionally, you will be ambitious and proactive by undertaking other assigned duties as required and seeking opportunities to improve yourself and those around you.

About Us : Joining our Transportation Maintenance Division will provide an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in the maintenance of critical infrastructure such as sidewalks, curb and gutter, asphalt, medians, and storm drains.
As a member of our 218 person staff, you will contribute to maintenance of 1,130 miles of streets and sidewalks; the upkeep of over 33,000 curb ramps; and the protection of 3.2 million linear feet of stormwater pipes connecting more than 32,000 drainage inlets.
The Transportation Stormwater Maintenance Unit is responsible for performing daily inspections, repair, and maintenance of the City's stormwater assets. Stormwater assets are defined as pipes, drains, and structures of all sizes that make up the City's stormwater system.

Work Environment and Physical Effort : Very Heavy : Exerting more than 100 pounds of force occasionally, more than 50 pounds of force frequently, and / or more than 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Work Environment : Work is typically performed in an outdoor environment, construction site, or in a vehicle. Employees may occasionally work in confined spaces, warehouse environment, or shop environment. Work Exposures : There is frequent exposure to extreme cold (below 32 degrees), extreme heat (above 100 degrees), moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and loud noises.
