Summary of Position :
As an experienced Senior Cloud Operations Engineer, you will lead the design, deployment, stability, and integrity of critical IT infrastructure across hybrid cloud environments, with a primary focus on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), including Google Cloud VMware Engine (GCVE), and advanced VMware virtualization technologies. This senior role bridges on-premise systems (including Windows Server, Linux, and Storage) with cloud architectures to ensure seamless, scalable, and secure system performance. You will drive innovation through Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), lead complex migration and integration projects, oversee advanced monitoring and Tier III incident response, participate in on-call rotations, and ensure maximum uptime and efficient operation of IT systems supporting core organizational and commercial functions across a dynamic telecom ecosystem.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Design, deploy, and maintain highly available and scalable cloud infrastructure on GCP, including GCVE, and on-premise VMware environments, optimizing for performance, security, and cost efficiency across hybrid setups.
- Monitor and troubleshoot cloud and on-premise systems to resolve complex incidents, optimize performance, and maintain high availability for critical office IT operations, including leading on-call activities for after-hours issue resolution and coordinating with response teams.
- Develop and implement technical plans for migrating on-premise Windows Server-based applications to cloud platforms (GCP), assessing compatibility, minimizing disruptions, and ensuring compliance.
- Manage end-to-end IT projects from inception to completion, including documentation, stakeholder communication, and implementation of real-time solutions, while performing ad-hoc IT duties as needed.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to establish infrastructure best practices, conduct design reviews, and implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools such as Terraform for automated deployments and scaling in GCP and VMware environments.
- Provide Tier III support for analyzing, troubleshooting, and resolving complex technical issues across Linux, Windows Server, and multi-cloud environments, leading system recovery efforts and resiliency improvements.
- Implement and manage advanced monitoring, alerting, and observability solutions using tools like Cloud Logging and Monitoring to proactively detect issues, prevent outages, and optimize system health in GCP and hybrid environments
- Serve as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) for Microsoft (Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, PowerShell), Linux, VMware (ESXi, vCenter), and Storage environments, ensuring system stability and integration.
- Forecast resource requirements and justify resource allocation for on premise or cloud-environments.
- Maintain Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity, including managing backup solutions like Veeam Backup, for hybrid environments.
Required Qualifications :
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field5-7 years of progressive experience in systems engineering or cloud operations, with at least 3 years focused on hybrid cloud environmentsProven expertise in cloud platforms, particularly GCP for deploying and managing services like Compute Engine, Cloud Storage, networking components, and GCVEStrong knowledge of on-premise systems, including Windows Server, Linux, VMware vCenter, and ESXi servers, and hybrid integration strategiesExpertise in core Microsoft infrastructure services : Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and PowershellExperience with advanced monitoring tools, incident response, performance optimization, alerting policies, and observability platforms in multi-cloud or hybrid setupsExcellent project management skills, with the ability to lead initiatives, communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders, and handle on- call responsibilitiesExperience with Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity planning and implementation, including backup solutions like VeeamAbility and willingness to undergo additional background screening necessary for working with US Government customersPreferred Qualifications :
