Job description

Job Description

This position will support and assist the Senior Plumbing Estimator in preparation of bids / estimates by performing quantity take-offs, collecting data from blueprints and specifications and compiling effective and complete quantity take-offs.

Responsibilities

  • Work with established commercial team to assist in preparation of competitive bids and proposals in Charlotte commercial construction market.
  • Establish and verify information provided as part of bid package, including blueprint reading, understand fixtures, equipment, specialties, specifications and submittals.
  • Ensure estimating processes and procedures are followed to deliver a proper and complete proposal.
  • Create and maintain a full analysis of key costs by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Resolve discrepancies by a thorough review of documentation, by applying good communication, analyzing plans and documents and asking questions.
  • Must meet critical deadlines while providing timely and accurate information.
  • Develop knowledge to analyze plans, produce quality take-offs, assist in creation of competitive bids / proposals, and gain an overall understanding of the complex projects involved in commercial construction.
  • Initiate Fastpipe take-off estimate, learn Bluebeam and other software involved in estimating projects.
  • Operate effectively as a team member.

Qualifications

  • High School diploma (or equivalent) required
  • 5+ years experience estimating commercial construction projects , but not required
  • Understand basics of estimating and have strong desire to learn construction industry
  • Knowledge of construction and demonstrate experience of estimating principles is preferable
  • Strong willingness to learn and develop skills in estimating
  • Self-motivated by own goals
  • Organizational skills and attention to detail a must
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfort level with learning new software
  • Good communication skills
  • Strong ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
  • Valid Driver's License and reliable transportation
