Overview

Upstream Hospitality Group is an ever-growing hospitality group that has a wide variety of tastes with a common theme holding them all together : creativity, progression, and originality. We are looking for motivated Prep Cooks who are eager to build skills and grow in a fast-paced kitchen environment.

What You'll Do

  • Wash, peel, and cut various foods to prepare for cooking.
  • Prepare all items consistently to company recipes and standards.
  • Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of the assigned station and the rest of the kitchen.
  • Handle all food items by washing, chopping, and cutting according to recipe specifications.
  • Label and store all products following company and safety standards.
  • Receive and store food supplies, equipment, and utensils in refrigerators, cupboards, and other storage areas.
  • Promptly inform management when equipment is not working properly.
  • Complete opening and closing checklists and assist others in opening and closing the kitchen.
  • Possess in-depth knowledge of assigned recipes and produce them to company standards.
  • Follow all directions provided by the Kitchen Manager.
  • Communicate and support co-workers while being a team player.
  • Communicate product needs to line cooks, support staff, and Kitchen Manager.
  • Understand and comply with standard portion sizes, cooking methods, quality standards, and kitchen rules and procedures.
  • Assist cooks and kitchen staff with various tasks as needed and provide cooks with needed items.
  • Fill in for fellow team members where needed to ensure quality and service standards are met.
  • Arrive appropriately dressed and ready to work on time.
  • All other duties as assigned.

What We'll Need From You / Qualifications

  • Prep or line cook experience is a plus.
  • Ability to work holidays, even if their regular scheduled days do not fall on the holiday.
  • Physical requirements : able to do heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs) and remain on your feet for up to 10 hours.
  • Ability to work in a hot, wet, humid, and loud environment for long periods at a fast pace.

    Compensation & Benefits

    Compensation : $16.50 - $18.00 per hour. Employment type : Part-time.
