• Start date : ASAP ROLE IMPACT As a Patient Cook, you play a vital role in helping children heal by preparing meals that meet medical and nutritional needs. Your work ensures patients receive safe, high-quality food tailored to their diets and conditions, supporting their care and recovery. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Cook meals based on patient menus and dietary needs (e.g., allergies, calorie counts)
• Modify recipes for special diets (e.g., diabetic, gluten-free, allergy-sensitive)
• Keep cooking areas clean and meet all food safety standards
• Label and store food properly, monitor temperatures, and sanitize equipment
• Coordinate with dietitians, aides, and nurses to ensure meal accuracy
• Help with food portioning, tray assembly, and restocking supplies MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• High school diploma or GED
• 1–2 years cooking experience, ideally in a healthcare setting
• Current Food Handler’s Permit
• ServSafe certification preferred CLINICAL SKILL SET
• Follow detailed recipes and dietary guidelines accurately
• Understand food allergens and special diets
• Stay organized and manage time in a busy kitchen
• Work well on a team and communicate clearly
• Show compassion in service to pediatric patients EQUIPMENT & WORK ENVIRONMENT
• Stand for long periods and lift up to 40 pounds
• Use commercial kitchen tools and hot equipment
• Work in fast-paced conditions; shifts may vary PREFERRED SKILLS
• Experience with pediatric or therapeutic diets
• Familiarity with hospital food service operations
