As a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA), you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for patients across various settings, including skilled nursing facilities, outpatient clinics, and home health environments. Your expertise will be essential in assisting patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), implementing care plans, and collaborating with occupational therapists to promote rehabilitation and recovery. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work with diverse populations, including geriatrics and pediatrics, while utilizing your knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
- What youll do
- Assist patients in performing activities of daily living (ADLs) to foster independence and improve their overall quality of life.
- Implement individualized care plans developed by occupational therapists to support patient rehabilitation goals.
- Provide therapeutic interventions in various settings such as acute care, skilled nursing facilities, and outpatient clinics.
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals to monitor patient progress and adjust treatment strategies as needed.
- Utilize your knowledge of medical imaging and occupational health to enhance patient assessments and interventions.
- Maintain accurate documentation of patient care activities and progress in compliance with regulatory standards.
- Educate patients and their families on treatment plans, exercises, and strategies for continued improvement at home.
- Basic qualifications
- Certification as an Occupational Therapy Assistant from an accredited program.
- Strong understanding of anatomy and physiology relevant to occupational therapy practices.
- Familiarity with medical terminology used in patient care settings.
- Preferred qualifications
- Experience working in skilled nursing facilities or acute care environments.
- Background in home health or outpatient therapy services.
- Knowledge of geriatrics and pediatrics to effectively cater to diverse patient needs.
- Proficiency in developing and executing care plans tailored to individual patient requirements.
