Agricultural Teacher

FUNCTIONAL PURPOSE :

The purpose of this position is to teach high school students content focused on agriculture for application in agricultural career. This is a 12 month position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

• Provide an instructional program that meets the needs of students and agriculture industry.
• Coordinate a strong FFA chapter that correlates with the instructional program and in which all agriculture students are members and participate.
• Develop strong positive relationships with key agricultural education partners including but not limited to the guidance counselor(s) principal superintendent CTE director county cooperative extension service leaders agribusiness leaders parents and other teachers.
• Develop a year-round calendar of activities that is approved by local school administrators. The calendar should include SAE visits FFA activities professional development opportunities agribusiness visits etc.
• Develop and maintain a library of educational resources textbooks curriculum guides and other related resources to enhance their performance as a teacher.
• Provide career guidance for students interested in career opportunities in agriculture.
• Develop strong marketing recruitment retention and public relations effort for encouraging all students to consider enrolling in agricultural education and joining FFA.
• Highlight student and program achievements for the local media parents school administrators etc.
• Maintain an accurate inventory of equipment and supplies for the department.
• Ensure that all federal and state safety standards are met in the agricultural and education facility.
• Join and be actively involved in various professional and civic organizations to ensure personal and professional growth.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.
