Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Tele Neuro Unit position, requiring a VA or compact license and at least one year of recent acute care and travel experience.
Responsibilities
Position is in a Tele Neuro Unit within a hospital settingUnit consists of 30 beds, flexing up to 35 as neededPatient population includes adults with CVA / TIA, peritoneal dialysis, hypertension, diabetes, and other medical-surgical conditionsNurse-to-patient ratios typically range from 1 : 4-5, occasionally up to 1 : 6, depending on staffingSpecialty equipment includes Alaris pumps, LifePak, Hoyerlift, Kangaroo (TF) pumps, and PCA pumpsMonitor techs are responsible for reading and interpreting stripsFloats to other med / surg units may be requiredPhlebotomy responsibilities required, and each shift includes 1-2 CNAs and sittersUses Epic EMR, prior experience preferred12-hour night shifts with every other weekend and holiday requiredResponsible for initial and ongoing patient assessments, care planning, and implementationProvides coordination of care and patient education, collaborating with the interdisciplinary care teamActs as patient safety advocate and supports quality improvement initiativesExpected to wear navy blue, white, or a combination of navy / white scrubsHoliday coverage is required per facility schedulingWill undergo EKG testing on the first day; two attempts are allowedFirst-time travelers are not eligible for this roleRequirements
Active RN license in Virginia or compact state requiredA minimum of one year of recent acute care RN experience requiredAt least one year of travel RN experience requiredBLS and NIHSS certifications requiredPassing a dysrhythmia (EKG) exam required, with study guide providedMust live at least 50 miles from the facility to qualify as a travelerACLS, CCRN, PCCN certifications preferredBSN preferredExperience with Epic charting preferredBenefits
