Overview
This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the 47th Force Support Squadron, located at Outdoor Recreation, Laughlin AFB, Del Rio, Texas.
This position is Regular Part Time (RPT), guaranteed 20 hours a week with potential to a maximum of 40 hours per week. You may be required to work nights, weekends and holidays. RPT employees are eligible to earn annual and sick leave as well as benefits including Health / Dental and Life Insurance, 401k and Retirement.
Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the Outdoor Recreation Supervisor, plans, organizes, directs, and evaluates a wide array of year-round outdoor recreational activities / programs including but not limited to : Recharge for Resiliency (R4R), Single Airmen Program Initiative (SAPI), Outdoor Adventure Programs; water or land-based activities; and other instructional programs.
- Develops program plans with risk assessment, comprehensive itineraries, and a process for obtaining customer comments and suggestions. Recommends new programming activities, including type of format and resources required.
- Gathers information from diverse sources, evaluates it, and judges what best meets the needs of specific clientele groups. Assists in promoting marketing strategies.
- Performs day-to-day budget management actions (tracking funds distribution, reconciling commitments / obligations, and relocating assigned program funds) and prepares / maintains data to support short- and long-range APF and NAF budgets.
- Assists ODR supervisor in assigning duties for Outdoor Adventure Program guides and volunteers, provides training for program staff on emergency procedures and customer relations, and develops detailed annual / quarterly adventure programs based on site surveys and customer input.
- Establishes calendars, confirms itineraries, obtains permits / tickets as applicable, plans and conducts post / pre-departure meetings with participants, drivers, volunteers, plans menus and purchases food, and ensures post-activity after-action reports are completed.
- Coordinates special group programs (self-guided and contracted guided programs), on-site educational and recreational programs, and administrative tasks including after-action reports and responding to customer feedback.
- Maintains program records and facility readiness to meet operational standards; collaborates with staff, volunteers, and contractors; assists patrons in selecting and pursuing interests in the respective areas. In the absence of the ODR supervisor, ensures daily operations are met.
