Firefighter / Paramedic

The City of Arkansas City is seeking a dedicated individual for the role of Firefighter / Paramedic. This position offers a salary of $25.42 per hour and is based in Arkansas City, KS. The job is part-time and is located within the Fire / EMS Department.

The primary responsibilities of this role include :

• Engaging in firefighting, emergency care, hazardous materials, and fire prevention.
• Maintaining fire / EMS equipment, apparatus, and facilities.
• Performing firefighting activities such as driving fire apparatus, operating pumps, laying hose, and performing fire combat, containment, and extinguishment tasks.
• Administering basic and / or advanced life support and providing other assistance at emergency situations.
• Participating in fire drills, attending classes in firefighting, emergency medical, hazardous materials, and related subjects.
• Receiving and relaying fire calls and alarms, operating radio and other communication equipment.
• Inspecting buildings, hydrants, and other structures in fire prevention programs.
• Performing general maintenance work in the upkeep of facilities and equipment.
• Assisting in developing plans for emergency preparedness, hazardous communications, training programs, firefighting, hazardous materials, and emergency aid activities.
• Presenting programs to the community on safety, medical, and fire prevention topics.
• Performing salvage operations such as throwing salvage covers, sweeping water, and removing debris.
• Maintaining contact with the general public, department officers, and other City officials in the performance of fire department activities.
