Experienced RNs : Casual and / or Limited Casual position available for nurses with 1+ years of experience

About UPMC Shadyside : A 4x Magnet-designated teaching hospital and center of ongoing, cutting-edge research and education.

Flexible Shifts : A minimum of 30 shifts are required to be worked each year, or 36 hours are required to be worked within 6 weeks

About 3 Pavilion :

3 Pavilion is a medical teaching unit designed to provide specialized care for patients with complex medical needs, particularly those requiring cardiac monitoring and stroke management. The emphasis on team-oriented care, hands-on experience with various medical devices (such as chest tubes, feeding tubes, and tracheostomies), and a supportive learning environment designed for nurses can develop both their clinical skills and teamwork abilities. The focus on teaching and leadership fosters a strong environment for professional growth.

High-Acuity Patients : Patients on this unit require staff members who are highly motivated, encouraging, and driven to provide patients with the best possible experiences and outcomes.

Career Advancement : UPMC Shadyside Hospital is connected physically to Hillman Cancer Center which is the main center of all cancer care within the UPMC system.

Fast-Paced Teamwork : Our Registered Nurses work rotation shifts including weekends and holidays to ensure 24 / 7 coverage on the floor.

Responsibilities :

At least 1 year of RN experience required.

An Associates Degree in Nursing, BSN, or MSN is required.

Demonstrate the knowledge and skills needed to provide care and interact with patients of all ages. Understand the principles of growth and development over the lifespan.

Establish and maintain positive, caring relationships with patients and their families, executives, managers, physicians, non-physician providers, ancillary and support staff, and other departments.

Work productively and effectively in an environment with changing priorities that require specialized skills.

Think critically to analyze and problem-solve to deliver the best patient care. Use sound clinical judgment and problem-solving to deliver quality patient care when it matters most.

Understand, apply, and champion nursing best practices.

Ability to work productively and effectively within complex environments and handle multiple / changing priorities and specialized equipment.

Physical stamina for frequent walking, standing, lifting, and positioning of patients.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances :

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)

ACLS within 12 months of hire

Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

CPR is required based on AHA standards that include both didactic and skills demonstration within 30 days of hire.

Registered Nurse (RN)

Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state.Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.

UPMC-approved national certification preferred.
